Philip not sure how this really relates to the group ‘Google’? it is also a little promotional which isn’t really the purpose of the discussion groups.

Thanks Tom, you can also do all that right here in this community, use your updates facility, update your profile information or take your very own blog

Trusting your puters were on UPS, always scary when the power fails on your workstation and you try and remember whether autosave was set on that large doc you were writing.

troia while members do post updates with links, we do ask that the are not overtly self promotional. There are opportunities for promotion within the site which may be discussed with the site administration.

Thank you! Now could you sort out that team of ours with a little pep talk, might like to point out to them that just one or two goals would help and wouldn’t be asking too much of players earning £120,000 pounds a week.

No Spain are going to win! bad luck though Martin. Who ever got England will be next to join you (What a pathetic shower that team is, makes you embarrassed to be English so I fall back on my Latin blood and root for Spain to win)
Mr Owl can that draw list be copied over to the group and added as a forum thread then it’s easier to keep tabs on who has which team.

Hmm not sure, but think not surprised really at speed. Google will see this area as naturally falling within the general purview of searches, and their territory. I originally thought that this wouldn’t be a threat to the esablished portals but now I’m not so sure. In some ways I have thought for a while that Google were taking a leaf out of Microshafts book on Marketing, which ran along the lines of integrate the app/software, bundle it, give it away for free, and sit back and watch your competition struggle and collapse in the face of unfair competition, then when the market is cornered introduce the fees.
P.S @martinsmith your comment/update might have been better placed in the forum thread on the subject of google property search?
In reply to - Martin Smith posted an update in the group Google : So, Google have already started integrating their new property map search with their normal search results screen. Not to mention campaigning hard with AdWords. Is anyone else a bit surprised at the speed of the introduction? I was expecting them to take a slightly more leisurely approach! [...] · View -

I too am looking forward to more thoughts and comments in this community forum thread as it’s an interesting topic. Where Google is heading , how this affects the established portal industry, how we / agents should best make use of this are all points I’m personally quite interested in reading about.

Excellent post, spot on ! Ever since the early days of the Net, with Bulletin Boards, mailing lists, maturing into Forums and Blogs it has been about multilogues – or perhaps we ought to say dialogues (dialogue not being a conversation limited by two participants) – It’s perhaps a difficult concept to grasp in that [...]

Hi Luisa,
Just fyi this response to the question the owl asked should really have been made within the same original comment/update you made, this is the threaded nature of updates and replies and keeps data / content together in a logical stream that flows and makes sense. As this one above stands it’s what’s known as Orphaned data or content that does not relate to anything, which is fine when it’s simply a one of update in your profile but as a response needs to be added as a reply. -
Great stuff! we’ll be expecting a mini review please

This sort of old news or at least I seem to remember vague attempts at getting this going years ago.
It is the correct and natural progression, the TV is the best means of bringing the internet to the masses. However I would rather that it wasn’t necessarily Google that brokers this, they have their hands in too many aspects of the internet and that is NOT a good thing. There is a governing core principle that is likened to a charter , that has existed which is known as ’Net Neutrality’ it’s a fundamental principle designed to ensure no one organization attempts control and dominance of the open architecture that is the internet, Google have for some time fealt like they were on a mission to usurp this principle.

Not to sure; in theory the posts should all default to comments open so I will have to look further into that, see what’s happening.
